Apple iPad MB292LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi)
Having spent some serious time with Apple's IPAD since its launch, it is easy to see how the device can arouse so much emotion and so much disappointment from all different angles, with less intermediate. People tend to love or hate. I hope you can shed some light on the details of using real-world IPAD, claims not only blind like many users seem to be shouting IPAD. I will detail all the benefits and warnings have the device I've found so far, hoping to get a clear idea of whether the IPAD really is for you.
Background and Initial Reaction
I am a developer of mobile applications and games has created applications for the iPhone, iPod Touch and now IPAD. In preparation for the announcement of the IPAD, there were several rumors about the Apple Tablet device in the iPhone development circles. The big rumor is probably based on the iPhone OS (operating system built for the iPhone / iPod Touch). I had a lot of mixed feelings about it though. Part of me wanted the IPAD to be able to run standard Mac applications (the iPhone OS, simply can not do), while the other part of me saw the potential for application developers to maximize the IPAD better screen and multi-touch interface on a whole new level, as iPhone / IPAD apps are not usually available for Mac or PC in particular. What this meant for the future of IPAD users was the potential to do more with the IPAD than they would do with a Mac or a normal PC, although there would be no compromise on it until Apple or other developers can create an application that would fill any gaps in functionality.
When announced, it was quite critical about the similarity of the IPAD was the iPod Touch. In fact, it seems like a large iPod Touch, especially with the icons too big (and spacing between them too) on the home screen. Only 4 additional applications on the screen is allowed in the IPAD (24 total) that the iPod Touch (20 in total). But while IPAD is not without fault, nor is it a laptop or desktop replacement complete by any means, remains without a doubt more than a glorified iPod Touch. After spending some time with him, the differences become apparent quickly.
Nor is a murderer "Kindle", but certainly is a great e-reader will have a lasting effect on the future of digital books and publications. Moreover, there is a definite potential for the device to be useful beyond all that is being touted as Apple. Consider what the iPhone can do now compared to the first version with nothing more than a standard application of Apple iPhone (before the App Store has been created).
First Impression
Taking the IPAD outside the box for the first time come to realize the tactile device is worthy of a reality. The stain of the screen shows your image bright eyes as you gaze into it and inhale it one-of-a kind of smell synonymous with brand new electronics. Wrapping your hand around to hold her new baby for the first time, to find a new meaning to the term "baby" because the back feels as soft as a baby's ass. And there is no doubt that this is exactly what Apple wants you to feel when unboxing the first IPAD.
Immediately, you'll probably notice that is heavier than you might expect for a device so slim. For a real world reference, the weight is comparable to that of two 200-page magazines (or 400 pages). Why so heavy? This thing has two massive batteries that promotes giving you complete 10 hours of life with wifi, but I've got a full eight hours of continuous streaming Netflix. Either way though, such a long battery life is something that the iPhone / iPod Touch can not, uh ... touch! Another factor is the glass the signing of Apple with touch screen. However, the glass screen is great for preventing scratches and ensures the display will always be very clear ... at least until you put your glass of fat everywhere.
Stain the fingers of oil is a problem with almost any touchscreen device, but the IPAD is special. It has a "Oleophobic" coating that should repel grease smears, streaks and fingerprints. After using most of the first days, it became apparent that the coating does not work 100%. Resisted much better than the iPod Touch, which has no coating, but you can expect there will still be some traces of oil residue on the skin in contact with the screen. Wash hands often helps to reduce this, but you really only notice it if you try to realize it (either by the light reflected from the screen or turn the screen off). So ultimately, their interaction with the experience of IPAD hardly affected by such spots - there will be no blurred vision or side effects. However, note that normally Oleophobic coatings begin to deteriorate after a few months, we hope that degrade over time, and eventually to disappear, causing more pronounced spots.
One of my biggest complaints with the IPAD is a complete waste of screen real estate. I'm talking specifically about the excessive one "black margin around the sides. What's the deal with that? Surely Apple could have lost weight and well made that the current slightly larger screen, or the very fact slightly smaller IPAD. Really discouraging to me that Apple have squandered a valuable space junk as well. The margin should have been the size range used for the 13 "or 15" MacBook Pro or iPhone / iPod Touch - about half an inch.
While on the subject of wasted space, I am equally disappointed with excessive spacing (padding) between the application icons on the main screen. Like the iPod Touch much smaller, can have only four applications per row (ie, four columns), when in portrait mode (vertical orientation), although an additional row was added. On the other hand, flip the IPAD to landscape mode (sideways) allows you to have an additional column of applications, although you lose the extra row you get with IPAD orientation set to portrait mode. Meanwhile, the iPhone / iPod Touch applications can not display in any orientation other than vertical / vertical.
Either way, both orentations IPAD, it seems that Apple could have fitted an additional column of the application icons with each other, although five or six columns in portait mode (and six or seven columns lamdscape mode) could meet my preferences. In any case, at least in the iPhone OS 4.0 Update (IPAD scheduled for this fall) will "Folders" to the IPAD, a feature that lets you better organize your applications on the main screen by grouping them into a single icon as collection of application is revealed in an emerging region.
Web Browsing
Along with email, and spending money in the App Store, browse the Web is one of the major proposals for Apple to use the device. The IPAD was born to surf the Web, and 1024x768 screen resolution tends to coincide, especially in landscape mode. Most websites are about 800-1000 pixels wide, so when the IPAD is in landscape orientation, Apple's Safari Web browser will make the sites that are less than 1024 pixels wide at its original size expected which means you see them in real size, rather than watching a smaller version of the site more compressed.
In general, however, tend to prefer to surf the Web in portrait mode as the websites are almost always higher than wide. However, even in portrait mode, the IPAD lets you see more content in a decent size, of course, even in vertical orientation, the compressed pages are provided, being easy to read without squinting your eyes, which is not often the case for Web browsing on the iPhone / iPod Touch. In addition, you can always zoom in on any section by double tapping any region of the current page. Even zoom in regions are shown with crisp clarity, and work within the Safari browser interface is fast and responsive.
However, not all desirable workplaces in the IPAD. Apple is closed and the mind refuse to support Adobe Flash from the IPAD (as it has done with the iPhone / iPod Touch). Whether you like it or not, Flash is used on the web, not only by advertising and video, but for many other uses graphs to compare products. The same lack of support is for Java, AIR, Silverlight, and others. So expect some of their sites only be supported to some extent if not completely, in rare cases. This can be a bit of a nuisance until it begins to be replaced with other technologies like Flash technology HTML5 canvas, which is about to assume some of the most familiar of Flash capabilities.
Media
If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, it's comforting to know that experience audio / video will be similar in the IPAD. You can watch YouTube videos through the application, which has been updated to the IPAD YouTube to display high definition video perfectly. While resolution of 1024x768 IPAD is a standard 4:3 ratio, not a 16:9 widescreen ratio, HD videos and video (including downloads from the iTunes store) display fine.
The application of Netflix was also a pleasant surprise and great satisfaction, as he had been waiting over a year for Netflix to shut down an application for the iPhone / iPod Touch. While it is not that, it's really that good. Netflix stream videos quickly and even move the playback position back and forth in the timeline, the movie starts playing very quickly without much time rebuffering video.
E-Reading
Whether it be books, magazines, news, IPAD is not only making history, is to make an impact on the future of reading means a whole new level. Apple has been to reduce the importance of e-book and electronic publishing in the IPAD reading skills up to date, but I think it is one of the great strengths of the IPAD, no matter how heavy it is. The fact is that the IPAD is still a game-changer. After all, is lighter than 98% of other laptops with screen size. It's becoming clear just what the industry means IPAD publication. This goes far beyond simply reading e-books. Magazine and newspaper publishers have been jumping on board the train IPAD creating their own custom applications in their publications with a whole new level, but in an interactive and financially.
My experience interacting with some of these new digital representations of magazines and newspapers have been a breath of fresh air. Being able to read on a screen is simply not enough. The possibility of even touching them, combined with rich interactivity to a level that can not be matched by their printed counterparts has really given new life to what I feared was becoming a dying trade. Of course, another big bonus for me has been the ability to save space because I can now keep all my magazines around without taking up more than the size of a single magazine (since the IPAD is comparable in size to a single magazine .)
As for the e-books go, you are not losing as they pass over the Kindle, because it has full access to the IPAD Kindle books through the Amazon Kindle application. That does not mean that the Kindle IPAD is a murderer by any means, since the two devices are very different, and both offer a unique experience. If you read lots of novels, or who prefer to read outdoors, and do not mind reading in shades of gray instead of full color, then the Kindle is actually made to you, as the Kindle is more the screen is lighter and easier to read in sunlight. However, that does not mean that the IPAD would serve no purpose for you, even as an e-reader, because you can read magazines, news and even the Web at a level that can not be matched by Kindle (at least not yet) . Besides, nobody said that his choice was limited to one device or another. Get both, if it tickles your fancy!
All physical aspects aside, the IPAD is definitely a great reader mail, only in a whole new level. The hawk that IPAD is just a glorified iPod Touch, however, probably do not realize this important distinction: the applications have been for the IPAD editors are specific and can not be used in the iPod Touch, or iPhone .
Gaming
If you're like me, you probably do not have time for games. Ultimately, even if the IPAD as a productivity device rather than a game console. Anyway, you can still be a great time to let the child within you walk free from time to time, like me. Unfortunately, it can only be time
No doubt, millions of people use their computers to play, and with the iPhone and iPod Touch after taking a clear role as a game console that has been as revolutionary for the mobile game that the Wii was for the games room, goes without saying that the IPAD is and will remain a decent platform to play.
I see board games and friendly games is the most popular laptop in the IPAD. Meanwhile, I suspect that the games are heavily dependent on rotation and other interactions based on the accelerometer can be done quickly so that the weight of IPAD. I got tired of playing EA's Need For Speed: Shift after about 5 minutes. By placing the IPAD on my knee did not help me much.
